Ironic that I caught a cold on the last day of winter, making my first day of spring a constant struggle. I got off work, ate some soup, and have been sitting in my bed since, smoking weed and trying to sleep to pass the time. I don't mind being sick terribly much - it gives me an excuse to lay around, guiltless and read or watch movies. Today, I read a little of an essay on the film "Salvator Giuliano." I really liked the film even though it was rather dense. This girl I met the other day made mention of The Bell Jar, so i've been also reading a little of that. When i was sick of reading, i watched Paris, Texas. I thought the end was beautifully done. Maybe I'll write a better entry when i'm better...

this has been my luck of late. Eating at Friendly Center the other day, I came across a sweet looking pen just laying on the table beside me. I put it in my pocket, only later to have it pointed out as being a mont blanc. I feel like i will be obligated to write more with a utensil like that. Last night I got absurdly drunk with some old acquiantances. It was interesting, but I don't know if it was worth sleeping in till noon, completely missing work. When I finally called in, they told me not even bother coming. I made the best of the situation though and laid in bed reading for an hour and then, still laying, rocking out to Patti Smith and Sonic Youth for next three hours. I've forgot how nice Saturday is without any responsibility.

I want to make a horror film. Any idea/suggestions to what it could be about?

it seems that all school is doing for me lately is reminding me that i live in a world of ignorant and inconsiderate idiots. today, i was so shaken by some of the stupid shit said by students today in my political science course. Whatthe fuck is this? I thought we were all done with the bullshit: "the flag is a symbol of freedom - you can't burn it!" or "i think everyone should go back where they came from and die!" I looked at the girl and thought to myself "you first."

I read the other day that only one in four adults read a book a year. Its amazing, the people who do read don't just read one book either, they read numerous books. It's like either you want knowledge or could care less about it. I feel indebted to myself to read, and its kind of depressing to see others don't. I told someone the other day that i liked Hemingway and they seriously didn't know who he was. too bad for them.

Today I was sitting in my room after just getting back from class and I stared at the ceiling not paying attention to the time. I must of been there for quite sometime, but all of a sudden I had the urge to smoke a bowl. So, I smoke the shit and look at the clock - it says 4:24. It was like my biological clock was set for 4:20. Personally, I am fine with this.

On another note, my birthday is coming up this Friday , where I make my way into adulthood. But a question comes to mind: Now that I will be a man, when is the right time to give up smoking pot? Can you smoke this shit all the way up until you die? I know some people say they will, but unless you are famous, are seen as you just a druggie, a failure? I mean, Hemingway was the most masculine author I've ever read, and he stuck strictly to the drink.

Either way, I suppose it's all inebriation.

CHARLEY

What do you weigh these days, slugger?

TERRY

...eight-seven, eighty-eight. What's it to you?

CHARLEY

Gee, when you tipped one seventy-five you were beautiful. You should've been another Billy Conn. That skunk I got to manage you brought you along too fast.

TERRY

It wasn't him! It was you, Charley. You and Johnny. Like the night the two of youse come in the dressing room and says, "Kid, this ain't your night— we're going for the price on Wilson." It ain't my night. I'd of taken Wilson apart that night! I was ready—remember the early rounds throwing them combinations. So what happens— This bum Wilson he gets the title shot— outdoors in the ballpark! – and what do I get— a couple of bucks and a one-way ticket to Palookaville. It was you, Charley. You was my brother. You should of looked out for me. Instead of making me take them dives for the short-end money.

CHARLEY

I always had a bet down for you. You saw some money.

TERRY

See! You don't understand!

CHARLEY

I tried to keep you in good with Johnny.

TERRY

You don't understand! I could've been a contender. I could've had class and been somebody. Real class. Instead of a bum, let's face it, which is what I am. It was you, Charley.
